Mitchell Parsons is a Canadian photographer/videographer working across music, media, and visual storytelling throughout North America - Vancouver, Montreal, New York.

His path started early and on both sides of the camera. By 14, he was already performing as a musician - playing drums, singing, and learning guitar. By 16, he had moved into live theatre and production, working as a sound and lighting technician, production assistant, and also stepping on stage as an actor. That early mix of performance and behind-the-scenes work shaped a core instinct that still drives his practice: understanding timing, audience, collaboration, and how a production actually holds together in real time.

He went on to study at Langara College in Vancouver, focusing on a wide range of creative and commercial disciplines including graphic design, interior design, retail merchandising, marketing, business management, public speaking, and art history. That combination of structured study and hands-on production became the backbone of his approach - balancing instinct with discipline, and creative direction with execution.

From there, his work expanded into photography, video production, audio recording, lighting, editing, set photography, and full content creation. He has worked across studios, backstage environments, broadcast sets, rehearsal spaces, and fast-moving on-location shoots, producing in-store interviews, rig rundowns, live performance coverage, editorial assignments, promotional campaigns, podcast production, and documentary-style work.

Today, that foundation is filtered through a New York-shaped sensibility: lean crews, fast decisions, and staying close to the work. He often operates as a one-man-band director / DP - moving between camera, sound, lighting, and production depending on what the project needs. Even on larger sets, the approach stays hands-on and responsive, prioritizing momentum over overproduction.

The work lives somewhere between documentary and constructed image - grounded in real environments, shaped in motion, and focused on presence over performance. Built through experience, refined in practice, and always moving forward.
