“Here's to the crazy ones ~ the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers ~ the round pegs in the square holes ~ the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them ~ but the only thing you can't do is ignore them ~ because they change things ~ they push the human race forward ~ and while some may see them as the crazy ones ~ we see genius ~ because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world ~ are the ones who do” ~ Steve Jobs
"I have been a witness, and these pictures are my testimony. The events I have recorded should not be forgotten and must not be repeated." (War photographer)
One of the things I've noticed when photographing the protest marches is the moment of truth I sometimes hear someone go through. When things turn bad and the police start making arrests. When they start clubbing people who are well within their rights. When that intensity hits there is usually the shriek of someone within the crowd who is going through that sudden, cold, brutal awakening that this is real and not just something on tv. I get the impression that it's the first they're experiencing it and I can literally hear the absolute panic and pain pass through them as I hear their screams of "What is going on?! Why are you doing this?!" It's as if that last little bit of denial has snapped and they're faced with a cold reality they didn't think was possible in America. Something in them crumbles. ~ MP

occupy vancouver
I went to the weekly GA for OWS Vancouver on January 18th. There was approximately 50 people there throughout the evening and even though it wasn't the hundreds or thousands that would frequent Zuccotti Park it still had every walk of life assembled in one room sharing ideas on how to make things better for everyone, in particular, how to help those who are less fortunate and down on their luck. It was good to see the spirit of the movement being carried on here. -

Where is this country headed when the airspace is shut down over a park and all media is banned from getting anywhere near while a police raid is happening?? When the police force feels the need to hide their actions you know we're in BIG trouble here. -
